Oak wilt is a disease caused by a fungus. It is spread by roots that intertwine with other trees, and also by insects. It travels throughout the tree by the water conducting vessels. It causes the leaves to wilt, and it may also cause branches to die. Thousands of trees are killed each year by this disease.
