Cotton Scales

Cotton scales are brown or whitish crusty bumps. They can also be clusters of flattened brown or white scaly bumps. They cover the leaves or bark of trees. The bumps can be scraped off of the trees. Leaves will turn yellow and drop. A sticky substance may sometimes coat the leaves. Sooty mold often grows on the substance. Too much infestation can cause death to the branches.
